Dear Mr. Steve Levy:
I am a very concerned student from Suffolk County. I attend Bellport High School, of the South Country School District, where I am a senior. In just a few short weeks my senior prom will take place. This is my main concern. Prior to selling tickets to the parents of the students attending senior prom, the district made a wise decision to hold a mandatory meeting for the parents, in which the main topic was drinking and driving. I fully understand the Suffolk County STOP-DWI program; however I feel this is not enough. As a high school senior, I am very aware of the underage drinking, as well as the increasing number of drunk driving performed solely by high school students. This number is slightly elevated during special occasions such as prom. As a Suffolk County resident, I feel unsafe to drive on the same roads as reckless students during prom week.Is my point clear in this letter???
You do state that you are a concerned high school senior and that is good, politicians need to hear from your age group. You might consider offering a few ideas that would help other students to learn not to drink and drive. Suggestions from the target age group will be more relevant than ideas from 47 year-olds like me.Is my point clear in this letter???
Since ou aren't asking him to do anything about it, the same message is carried by this subset of your letter:
As a high school senior, I am aware of the underage drinking, as well as the increasing number of drunk driving performed by high school students. This number is elevated during special occasions such as prom. As a Suffolk County resident, I feel unsafe to drive on the same roads as reckless students during prom week.
As stated above...what do you want Mr. Levy to do? you just want to be on the record as being concerned? you need to state what you think should be done to alleviate the (perceived) problem. What are your suggestions?
P.S. who is Mr Levy? What position does he hold?
I agree with the people who said your letter is good but unfinished. What else do you think should be done? The mistake many complainers make (including adults) is that they just rant, but don't put forth any reasonable solutions to the problem.
first let me say I agree with you. They aren't doing enough.
As far as the letter, I think that you should state some things he can do to help. Like maybe have some police officers around the area during prom night. :-)
Aside from saying you are concerned about possible alcohol use, you do not have a clear point. What would you like Mr. Levy to do? What do you want your letter to accomplish? It seems unfinished.
No, you have made no point of any wanted action. From your letter, all I could say, was; Then stay off the roads that night.
