I have a settings.ini error which states that ';settings.ini is being used by another process. '; How do I fix this? And yes, I have already tried to search for the elusive process and still don't know what it is.
Other symptoms include:
1. the Search function in the Start Up menu cannot be initiated.
2. Vista sidebar will not come up
3. Google toolbar can still work but not work very well
things that have failed to solved the problem:
1. Using Restoration Point
2. Use anti-spyware to search for malware and spyware
3. Use CCleaners to clean up junk
4. Use disk defragger to defrag
5. Use anti-virus program to scan for viruses
6. And the most important of all: USE GOOGLE TO LOOK UP PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. NONE OF THEIR SOLUTIONS WORK.
If you guys can't help me, then I guess I need to create a new account:
1. I am already an admin. Would my new account be an admin? How do I transfer this admin ';power';?
2. Do you need to save all the files before I can transfer them? Or can I just transfer them.
3. Deleting the original admin account would not cause any problem, right?Problems with my computer. 10 points for clear and helpful answer?
Umm you can try to find it by downloading Process Explorer.
To review your start ups, since some might have been disabled you can try using Run, then type 'msconfig'
Umm also, you could try disabling and re-enabling Windows Settings by going to your Control Panel -%26gt; Uninstall Programs -%26gt; Turn Windows Features on or off.
It's really weird that the System Restore didn't work. You could start your computer in safe mode, and then open your Command Prompt and type 'rstrui.exe' to start the System Restore again.
If none of those work. You could try downloading System Mechanic from iolo.com and checking out if it can fix your problem.Problems with my computer. 10 points for clear and helpful answer?
1.If 1 does not help run malwarebytes
2. if 2 does not help or you can not install malwarebytes because of the virus run unhackme
With unhackme after the scan it will come up with files that are suspicious and its up to you to click remove or keep. go on internet and type '; what is '; the name of the file in question'; ';. and if it looks like a virus click get rid of. I use unhackme all the time and it has helped 99% of the time.
save all files you want to, since it looks like u tried some stuff, try reformating your comp, back to square 1, should work then, if not, dont use vista lol
Well , maybe you have corrupted/missing OS files. Use your OS cd and select the repair program.
