Allow me to flip your question: until you haven't reached consciousness that the matter is settled guilty feelings burn inside yourself and any person/circumstance literally could be able to give you absolution by getting you to that sudden knowledge ';I am not guilty (any longer)';/';I am not guilty at all';/';I haven't been guilty at all';


It doesn't need a priest to take your guilt away


Be conscious of the moment and do not care about past or future, that burdens!


If you can't cope with that take Jesus, Buddha, Krishna or whatever as crutch
Absolution is a cop-out. The only way to free yourself of guilt is to make amends to those you've harmed.
God has already forgiven me...it takes willingness to repent..
There are different kind of guilt. Absolution clears one kind, the spiritual guilt of sin. If you commit a crime, as opposed to just a sin, you also have another kind of guilt, let's call it a 'civil guilt', and that must be dealt with also.





You can go to jail and pay your 'debt to society', but still feel the guilt of having done something wrong. Or you can be absolved of your spiritual guilt but still be subject to punishment by society, or the state.





And I suspect people who do terrible crimes still feel some guilt, perhaps terrible guilt, even after they've secured both kinds of absolution. I still feel guilt about things I've done in my life, even though there's no warrant out for my arrest, and I'm sure God forgives me.

N枚. Aber ich kenne ein paar Leute, die da ein dickes Problem haben. Schade eigentlich, die sind n盲mlich megagenial. If you are that far gone, then you have no conscience and don't even feel guilt.
I think it would be ';absolutely pointless'; in trying to ';clear my guilt!';
